Winter Break Trip – San Francisco

This year, SEAOC traveled up to San Francisco for its Fall Quarter trip.  Approximately fifteen students and advisor Abe Lynn traveled up to the city by the bay for a weekend of tourism and education.  After arriving in San Francisco, the students visited Golden Gate Park and the California Academy of Sciences.  Following the visit to the Academy, the students spent time seeing the rest of the city.  The next day, the students visited Rutherford & Chekene as well as one of their jobsites at UCSF.  Finally, the students visited Nabih Youssef and Associates where they learned about the firm and their projects that utilize base...

Fall Meeting – Week 6

This week’s meeting as it fell on Halloween week; SEAOC took up the holiday spirit for some competitive pumpkin carving.  With the members choosing carving teams, each team received a pumpkin and 45 minutes to come up with a design and then carve it into their pumpkin.  All the students had a great time as each team came up with creative designs ranging from more traditional designs all the way to carving faculty members’ faces into the pumpkin with great skill and likeness.  Concluding the competition a few faculty members judged the pumpkins declaring everyone was a winner based on the different categories of the...
